Pathology Medical Education

The department of pathology has educational responsibilities to the M2, M3 and M4 medical students attending the College.

Curriculum during M2 year includes an introductory pathology course that emphasizes concepts of the normal and disease state in the various organ systems. This approach is designed to prepare medical students for their future clinical rotations and practice. These studies complement the basic science studies taught during their M1 year at Urbana-Champaign. The course is taught with a mix of lectures, case studies, and labs by part time faculty.

For most organ systems there is an accompanying lab station. These labs have gross specimens, X-rays, microscopic images, and lab displays with questions and answers. The pathology faculty members are available during these scheduled lab sessions to interact with the medical students and are available to answer student questions.
