Salary (2009-2010)

Resident stipends for the academic year of 2009-2010 are as follows:

  • R1 $47,000
  • R2 $48,000
  • R3 $49,000
  • Chief Resident(s) $51,000

 

Other Benefits Include:
  • $1500 moving allowance (R1)
  • PDAs for each resident
  • Free access to Up to Date, MD Consult and all University of Illinois library resources 
  • Meals provided when on duty in the hospital

  • Health insurance—100 percent of premium paid by residency for residents and dependents

Outside employment is permissible with the consent of the program director. Presently, there is ample opportunity for third-year residents to moonlight in local emergency rooms and after-hours clinics. Residents must first obtain an Illinois permanent license.

First and second-year residents can moonlight within the optional opportunities of the curriculum where there is supervision.
