Master of Science in Medical Biotechnology Degree Requirements
In addition to the Graduate College minimum requirements, students must meet the following program requirements:
Minimum Semester Credit Hours Required: 34 hours
- Course Work
- Required Courses: MBT 501, 504, 505, 506, 510, 511, 513, 520 and 595. (Aee course titles below.)
- Electives: At least 6 hours. (See course titles below.)
- Comprehensive Examination Not required
· Language of Instruction: Written and oral English language competency is required.
· Research Project (lab research or library paper):
o Credits required - (8 credit hours in MBT 597 Research Project)
o Total effort – the equivalent of 4-6 months of full time effort on project planning and preparation, gaining project approval, execution of research activities, data analysis and reporting on the research project is necessary – usually spread over 1+ year.
o Research project requirement requires completing a formal research project design and proposal, approval of the formal research project proposal, execution of the research project and preparation of written and oral final reports and a project defense presentation.
o The written final report is prepared and submitted in the form of a publication submission
o The research activity requirement may be conducted at University of Illinois Rockford or other University of Illinois sites or in the laboratories of one of our industrial partners or a combination of both.
