Supporting Medicine at Rockford

The University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford faces many economic challenges. Tuition dollars for medical students only cover about one-third of the cost of their education. With declining state funding, we must find a way to continue our tradition of excellence in teaching, research and scholarship. The remaining budget must be met from grants and private giving.

An important learning component for our students is their clinical skills training through our University primary care clinics (UPCC) and our medical clinics that specialize in obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics and psychiatry. These clinics have seen a growing number of uninsured and underinsured patients due to current economic conditions.

That's why we're reaching out to you, our alumni and friends, asking you to invest in the College of Medicine at Rockford.

Your gifts help the College through:

Annual giving

Annual gifts enable University leaders to meet challenges and take advantage of opportunities that arise throughout the year. They also provide a reliable stream of support for academic and student programs.

Endowment support

Endowments provide funding for faculty, student and program support, as well as scholarships, fellowships, professorships and chairs.

Programs Support

Programs and facilities that improve the quality of life in the greater Rockford community; biomedical research that could be the breakthrough to finding a cure for cancer or diabetes; solving the problem of health disparities in underserved populations— these programs need private support to flourish.

Faculty support

We are dedicated to bringing the best medical staff and researchers to Rockford to work in our health systems and teach our students.

Student support

Gifted students deserve a quality education. Did you know that the average medical student graduates from a public university with almost $140,000 in student loans? Scholarships and other gifts to the College allow us to keep tuition and fees affordable.
