Making a Gift is Easy
Gifts of cash
Cash is the simplest and most popular way to make a gift.
Your gift is immediately available to support our programs and every dollar you give is deductible in the year in which you make your gift.
Checks
Simply make your check payable to the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford and mail it, along with a short letter stating the purpose of your gift, to:
U of I College of Medicine at Rockford
Attn: Director of Advancement
1601 Parkview Avenue
Rockford, IL 61107
You may also state the purpose of your gift on the memo line of your check.
You can direct your gift to a specific department, scholarship or other funding area, or make an unrestricted gift that will be used by the University to meet current funding priorities.
How to give by credit card
The fastest way to make a gift is with credit card. The on-line giving form is fast, safe and secure. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. Our on-line gift transaction system allows you to specify funds for any of our departments, units or programs.

If you prefer to make your credit card gift by phone or mail, we will need the following information:
· credit card number.
· expiration date and CID number (from the back of the card).
· your contact information, for any questions.
· dollar amount to charge to your card.
· instructions on how you would like to designate your gift.
· your signature authorizing the Foundation to debit your credit card account for the amount of your gift.
If you’re considering a gift, it’s worthwhile to look into your employer’s matching-gift program. It could mean multiplying the amount of your donation. If you are unsure whether or not your employer has such a program, review the University’s alphabetic listing of more than 7,500 matching-gift companies. You will receive credit for the entire gift, both your contribution and the company match, and it will counts toward membership requisites in College and University donor-recognition groups such as the Presidents Council.
How to give by electronic funds transfer
Electronic funds transfer (EFT) is a safe, flexible and easy process that delivers your gifts directly and automatically from your bank to the U of I Foundation. The University will receive your gift just as you have designated.
You control how much and when the donations are disbursed. Your bank disburses your gifts or pledge installments automatically until you decide to stop.
To make your gifts via EFT, simply print, complete and return the form below.
Securities
The College of Medicine welcomes gifts of stock, bonds, mutual funds and other appreciated securities. Gifts of appreciated securities may provide immediate assistance to us, as gifts of cash do, or may be made as part of our planned giving program to benefit the long-term needs of the University.
Some benefits of gifts of appreciated securities:
· You avoid capital gains tax. Gains are taxable if you sell stock or mutual fund shares, but not if you transfer ownership to the University.
· Your charitable deduction for federal income tax purposes is based on the full, fair-market value of the shares on the date the gift is made.
· You receive credit from the University of Illinois for the full fair-market value of the shares, but the cost to you is your original purchase price.
These gifts require special planning and consultation with your professional financial advisor, as well as University of Illinois Foundation staff. To make a gift of stock, please contact the Advancement Office at the College of Medicine at 815.395.5928 or the Foundation at 217.333.0810.
