The University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford hosted a Faculty Awards Ceremony and Authors' Reception on Thursday, March 24 to thank the 400 plus community faculty who contribute so much to the College’s programs. Service awards were given to those celebrating milestone anniversaries. Among them were Drs. Henry Anderson, LeRoy Bach, Robert Behmer, Paul Burkholder, Ronald Burmeister, Richard Christiansen, Jan Elliott, Joseph Giliberti, Norm Hagman, Robert Harner, Robert Heerens, Donald Holder, Gordan Langejans, Herbert Lash, Donald Lyddon, Sanford Mer, Kamal Modir, Joseph Orthoefer, Charles Osadjan, Forrest Riordan, John Seidlan, Ewald Sorensen, John VanLandingham, Richard Webb, and Donald Wortmann, who have been with the College since it started and are celebrating their 40th year anniversary. The dedication and commitment to education shown by these physicians, most of whom are non-paid faculty, allows the College to fulfill its mission of education, innovation and service.

Dr. Mike Werckle for service to the Department of Family & Community Medicine
Dr. Ted Ingrassia for service to the Department of Medicine and Medical Specialties
Dr. Howard Kaufman for service to the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology
Dr. Connie Vitali for service to the Department of Pathology
Dr. Martin Anyebuno for service to the Department of Pediatrics
Dr. Tom Wright for service to the Department of Psychiatry
Dr. Warren Lowry for service to the Department of Surgery
Special Dean’s Recognition was presented to:
OSF Lifeline Ambulance – Maggie Carlson, manager, for service to the Department of Family & Community Medicine
OSF Lifeline Ambulance – Dave Loria, supervisor, for service to the Department of Family & Community Medicine
Rockford Fire Department – Lt. Robert Vertiz, EMS Training Coordinator, for service to the Department of Family & Community Medicine
In addition, over 100 authors affiliated with the College of Medicine at Rockford were acknowledged for the significant contribution they make to further medical education and patient care through research and publications.
