Summer Sciences Internship Opportunity

The University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford and ThermoFisher Scientific is offering a Summer Science Internship.  This is an opportunity for local high school students to interact closely with professionals in either an academic or industrial research environment.  Students who are selected for the eight-week program gain valuable hands-on laboratory skills using a variety of scientific techniques.
Key dates:
Application deadline: March 15, 2011
Mail signed and completed application along with three (3) letters of reference.
Student and Parent Information Night: April 7, 2011
Mandatory meeting to learn about the program and the specific research projects being offered. Students will go through first round of interviewing.
Summer Science Internship Orientation: June 13, 2011
Selected students will begin their internship with orientation and training.
Summer Science Forum: August 4, 2011
Students will present their experience through oral presentations and scientific posters.
Both Thermo Fisher Scientific and the College of Medicine provide the ideal environments and opportunities for performing research in today's exciting biotechnology and medical industries.
