Cutting-edge research conducted by faculty in the department of biomedical sciences has contributed to the current explosion of discoveries in the biomedical sciences. Areas of study include:

  • Cancer immunotherapy
  • Osteoporosis
  • Neuroendocrinology
  • Neurophysiology of pain
  • Molecular biology
  • Immunology
  • Proteomics of infectious agents
  • Sexually transmitted diseases
  • Vaccine development against microorganisms
  • Control of tropical infections


Several of these projects involve international collaboration.

Faculty members have achieved an excellent reputation for significant contributions and leadership to scientific and professional societies at all levels of organization in our community, nationally and internationally.
