University Outreach and Public Service

University Outreach and Public Service (UOPS) works to meet the higher education needs of the people of Illinois through quality programming that reaches beyond the University’s campuses in Chicago, Springfield, and Urbana-Champaign. Through our outreach centers strategically located across the state, UOPS serves as a critical link between the University and the citizens of Illinois. We also manage the affiliated units of the Illinois Virtual Campus, the Illinois Online Network, the Illinois P-16 Education Initiative and the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement. Our office:

  • Supports University of Illinois educational outreach and public service activities statewide.
  • Works with local and regional leaders to match the resources of the University of Illinois to community needs.
  • Assists the Chicago, Springfield and Urbana-Champaign campuses with the promotion and delivery of off-campus programming.
  • Provides local services that are easily accessible for off-campus and online students.
  • Facilitates partnerships between the University campuses and other institutions to increase access to the resources of the University of Illinois.
