SwedishAmerican is a division of UW Health. The organization includes two hospitals, a free-standing outpatient cancer center, 30 clinics, a home health agency and a foundation. SwedishAmerican Hospital is a 333-bed, full-service, non-profit hospital serving the greater Rockford region, northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. It is a teaching hospital that hosts the University of Illinois College of Medicine’s residency program. Founded in 1911, SwedishAmerican Hospital has earned a reputation for its commitment to quality healthcare, including clinical excellence, outcome measurements and placing the needs and concerns of our patients first. SwedishAmerican offers more than 350 active and courtesy staff physicians, encompassing approximately 40 different specialties and many specially trained allied health professionals. SwedishAmerican’s physicians represent all major surgical specialties and sub-specialties. Our outpatient surgery center provides state-of-the art procedures and service to more than 6,000 patients annually.
From primary care to open heart surgery, SwedishAmerican’s range of cardiac services is truly comprehensive. Many of our cardiac services are provided within the Heart Hospital at SwedishAmerican, while others are offered at SwedishAmerican Hospital, through our extensive networks of clinics, and bySwedishAmerican Home Health Care.
Regional Cancer Center
The SwedishAmerican Regional Cancer Center offers state-of-the-art treatment and support services to cancer patients throughout northern Illinois. Our award-winning cancer program includes an outpatient cancer center, which offers advanced treatments under one roof and care that is coordinated by the region’s top specialists, including experts from UW Health and its nationally recognized University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center.
