Interprofessional Immersion Day
The University of Illinois Rockford is hosting an Interprofessional Immersion Day (IPE) today with students from medicine, nursing and pharmacy. Students and faculty facilitators will engage in simulated scenarios regarding the patient discharge process, the emergency department, and home visits as well as debriefings following each exercise. The event will allow students to explain the roles and responsibilities of their own profession as well as those for professionals from other disciplines. Students will evaluate how verbal and electronic communication can facilitate or hinder collaboration and team function and they will analyze the interactions within interprofessional teams to contribute to safe, respectful and effective patient centered care.
