Catherine Wheatley, MD, FACOG, is an academic generalist and assistant clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology who joined the College of Medicine Rockford Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology as the OBGYN clerkship co-director.
Dr. Wheatley is also on the faculty of the College of Medicine Chicago where her clinical practice is located. She is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and provides expert obstetric care for low- and moderate-risk pregnancies. She also specializes in benign gynecologic care, including contraception and sexual health care; management of complex gynecologic conditions; and gynecologic surgery, including vaginal hysterectomy and in-office gynecological procedures. She is also involved in medical education on the Chicago campus where she serves as the Chicago campus OBGYN clerkship director. Dr. Wheatley also acts as the tri-campus advising liaison for OBGYN. She has received multiple awards for distinction in teaching, including the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics Excellence in Teaching Award (2020), the UIC Obstetrics and Gynecology Department Golden Apple Teaching Award (2019), the Regional Dean’s New Faculty Teaching Award (2016), and is a two-time recipient of the CREOG Faculty Award for Excellence in Resident Education (2016, 2018).
Dr. Wheatley is a graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Indiana University School of Medicine. Prior to starting with UIC, Dr. Wheatley was an academic generalist and assistant clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the Texas Tech University Health and Sciences Center, Amarillo Campus.
