The health care community is invited to attend a free lecture by celebrated physician, lawyer, former FDA commissioner and author, David A. Kessler, MD, JD. Dr. Kessler is a professor of pediatrics and former dean at the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine; former chief science officer and head of Operation Warp Speed for federal COVID-19 response; former commissioner of the US Food and Drug Administration, who took on Big Tobacco; former dean of Yale Medical School; and a New York Times bestselling author.

The purpose of the visit is to increase knowledge about public health advocacy and its impact on the health care needs of the entire population.

At the conclusion of Dr. Kessler’s visit, guests should be able to analyze key challenges faced by major public health campaigns, evaluate the impact of successful strategies in shaping public health outcomes and apply lessons learned to current and future public health efforts.

Physicians and all health professionals in the community as well as UIC students, residents, faculty and staff are invited to attend.
