Correctional Health Care Services receives recognition from area judge
Tricia Corrigan, MS, FNP-BC, director of clinical activities and Anita Bramble, a medical social associate, both in the UICOMR Department of Family and Community Medicine, recently received recognition from Hon. John S. Lowry, Chief Judge of the 17th Judicial Circuit County for Winnebago and Boone Counties, for the work they are doing at the at the Winnebago County Justice Center and Juvenile Detention Center.
The Department of Family and Community Medicine provides health care services for the inmates at the Winnebago County Justice Center and Juvenile Detention Center. Since 2005, the department coordinates and provides health care services including medical and dental care, physical therapy and pharmaceutical services.
The Compassionate Appreciation for Recovery in Everyone (CARE) Program also provides a fully integrated transition to care services for individuals who are incarcerated upon their return to society for medical, mental health and substance use disorders. The program is in conjunction with the UI Health Mile Square Health Center-L.P. Johnson Rockford and the Winnebago County Justice Center. It is funded through a half-cent sales tax through the Winnebago County Community Mental Health Board.
