The University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford's MERIT Program is excited to offer Darkness to Light's Stewards of Children training. Darkness to Light is dedicated to empowering adults with the knowledge and tools to prevent child sexual abuse through education, awareness, and stigma reduction. The Stewards of Children® program, facilitated by the MERIT Program's clinical social worker, is an evidence-based initiative designed to help adults prevent, recognize, and respond to child sexual abuse effectively.
Training Details: This 2.5-hour session features six impactful videos, with experts and individuals sharing practical, real-world insights on how to protect children. After each video, we’ll engage in group discussions and work through the Stewards of Children workbook. This training is offered free of charge to any adult residing in Winnebago County, thanks to funding from the Winnebago County Community Mental Health Board and the half-cent sales tax approved by county residents.
Certification: Participants who complete the 2.5-hour training will receive a certificate of completion. CEUs are available, courtesy of Rosecrance, for Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Nursing, and Psychologists.
Thank you for your commitment to becoming a steward of children—your involvement makes a significant difference in protecting our youth.
