College of Medicine Rockford Welcomes Physician to Fellowship Program

Brittany Blomberg, DO, is the newest fellow in the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford's Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship Program.

Dr. Blomberg recently completed her residency in family medicine through the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford's Monroe Clinic Rural Family Medicine Residency Program, which is affiliated with SSMHealth’s Monroe Clinic in Monroe, Wisconsin. Dr. Blomberg is a Freeport, Ill., native who earned her doctorate in osteopathic medicine from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

During her fellowship, Dr. Blomberg will gain additional experience in palliative care, which is medical care for symptoms of a serious illness, as well as hospice care, which is typically end-of-life care for patients with terminal illnesses.

Dr. Blomberg is the second fellow in the program that started in 2018. Dr. Harneet Gahley graduated from the program in 2019 and is now employed at SwedishAmerican in Rockford.
