Dr. Dennis Norem will be inducted into the Belvidere Bucs Football Hall of Fame

The late Dennis Norem, MD, will be part of the Belvidere Bucs Hall of Fame Class of 2024. He will be recognized on Friday, Sept. 13, 2024, when the Belvidere Bucs host the Freeport Pretzels at Belvidere High School.

Dr. Norem, who was a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Medicine and Medical Specialties, was a four letterman in football for the Belvidere Bucs, with his last season coming in 1970. He also spent more than 30 years as the team’s doctor.

Dr. Norem graduated from the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford in 1979. Upon completion of his residency in internal medicine at Illinois Masonic Hospital in Chicago, he returned to Rockford to practice internal medicine at what is now Mercyhealth, before joining the UICOMR faculty in 1983.

He was involved in all aspects of medical education for medical students and residents. He took an active role in building alumni support for the College of Medicine Rockford and was active in alumni activities and events. He was honored with a Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2001.
