Dr. Gary Anderson Retires from College of Medicine Rockford
The University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford announces the retirement of Gary L. Anderson, MD, after 35 years of service. Anderson is an associate professor of clinical pathology and chair of the Department of Pathology.

A 1979 graduate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford, Anderson completed a residency at the University of Iowa in pathology and joined the faculty in 1984 while working in clinical practice in Rockford. He was an award-winning instructor, earning several Golden Apple Teaching Awards over his long career and the Distinguished Service Award from the College of Medicine in May 2018.
“Dr. Anderson has been a valued contributor to the College of Medicine for more than three decades, training the next generation of physicians and serving as a leader on campus,” says Alex Stagnaro-Green, regional dean of the College of Medicine Rockford. “I appreciate his contributions and wish him well in his retirement.”
