New director to guide medical students on their road to residency

The Office of Student Affairs welcomes Jason Goode, EdD, as director of student affairs-career services. In this role, he will continue and expand the programs developed by Stephanie Calato, MS, who was promoted to Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, that help medical students prepare for and select a career path that will carry them through residency and beyond.

Dr. Goode was previously associate director of scholarships and fellowships for the University Honors Program at Northern Illinois University where he developed, recommended and implemented appropriate goals related to national fellowships for NIU students. He also served as the program’s liaison to the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office and the diverse array of honor societies at Northern Illinois University. Prior to 2012, he worked in NIU’s Office of Student Academic Success as a student success specialist.

A Rockford native, Dr. Goode earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communication and a doctorate in higher education from NIU.

“Dr. Goode brings a wealth of experience and a passion for helping students succeed,” says Assistant Dean for Student Affairs Stephanie Calato. “I look forward to working with him to continue the support our students need to manage their medical school journey and fulfill their career goals.”
