Neelu Puri, PhD, associate professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences and her research team attended the 2024 Senior Lifescape Expo hosted at Rock Valley College on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024.
Dr. Puri was accompanied by her team of Master of Science in Medical Biotechnology students Jhishnuraj Kannan, Aditya Krishnan, Ayesha Khan, Subaranjana Saravanaguru, Jose Lopez; Usama Altayeh, a UIC College of Engineering student; Dalton Rodgers, a second-year medical student; and Sarai Arriaga, research assistant.
The researchers used this event as an opportunity to educate seniors about the risks of lung cancer, low-dose computer tomography screening and biomarker research being done at UICOMR. An amazing turnout of more than 100 seniors from several counties in northern Illinois attended.
The mission of Lifescape is to promote independent and high-quality living with an emphasis on the aging population. With an increasingly aging population in the United States, it’s important for seniors to be aware of the medical resources available to them to get the help they need.
This project is funded by the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois.
