About

Carrie Foust brings decades of experience in public relations, marketing and communications to her role as director of communications for the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford. She joined the college in 2015 as director of engagement, a role in which she created communications, events and volunteer opportunities to connect alumni to the college and with each other. Since 2017, she’s overseen all aspects of strategic communications for the campus, including media relations, social media, website administration, publications and more.

Foust’s experience before joining UIC includes 16 years in communications for the University of Wisconsin where she led several rebranding initiatives and helped increase student enrollment to record-breaking levels. Additional professional experience includes ownership of a full-service professional communications agency and roles in health care and education marketing and communication.

Service to Community

Carrie is a volunteer with Community Action of Beloit, helping with the annual Gingerbread Extravaganza since 2015. She's served on the Winnebago County Opioid Task Force since 2018. She previously served on the boards of the Hedberg Public Library Foundation, YWCA of Rock County, Foundation for the Preservation of 108 S. Jackson, The Literacy Council, American Association of University Women and Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin Women's Fund.

Education

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Carrie Foust earned a JBA from the highly ranked School of Journalism and Mass Communications, majoring in both public relations and advertising. She also earned a BA in psychology from the College of Letters and Sciences where she conducted research in advertising and visual perception.

A lifelong learner, she's honed her leadership, professional and technical skills through professional development with such organizations as Texas A & M, Rock County Leadership Development Academy, Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, Association of American Medical Colleges Group on Institutional Advancement and other courses, workshops and training tools.
