Dr. Zimmermann has a doctoral degree in public health sciences. She has over 15 years of experience in research and evaluation in the health sciences and often collaborates with federal, state, and local agencies and organizations to engage in research. Dr. Zimmermann’s research focuses on chronic disease risk reduction and supporting healthy behaviors in women and under-resourced populations using evidence-based health promotion strategies.
Interests
Dr. Zimmermann is a mixed-methods public health researcher who is primarily interested in the dissemination and implementation of evidence-based practice in community and clinical settings and community-engaged research to promote disease prevention and management and improve health outcomes. Her recent projects include cardiovascular risk reduction interventions with rural and under-resourced populations, physical activity and chronic disease prevention in rural perinatal persons, and clinic and community-based diabetes management interventions.
