Chief Residents Named

Dr. Ziegler and Dr. Dhillon Named Chief Residents in Family Medicine Residency Program

The University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford Family Medicine Residency Program announces the selection of Pawandeep Dhillon, MD, and Jason Ziegler, MD, as co-chief residents for the Rockford program.

Both Dr. Dhillon and Dr. Ziegler are resident physicians in their third and final year of the residency program and they see patients at the UI Health L.P. Johnson Family Health Center, 1221 State St.  As chief residents, they will be involved in more administrative duties at the center, as well as teaching resident physicians and medical students, according to program director Joseph Ross, MD.

“Dr. Dhillon and Dr. Ziegler were chosen as chief residents based on their dedication to exceptional clinical care and the support of the other residents in the program,” says Ross.

Dr. Pawandeep Dhillon

Dr. Dhillon is a graduate of Xavier University School of Medicine. She is especially interested in management of chronic conditions, preventative medicine and working with the community. As chief resident she looks forward to providing more opportunities for residents to be involved in the community; helping fellow residents develop their individual identities as clinicians, educators and leaders; and continuing to enhance continuity of care within our clinic.

Dr. Jason Ziegler

Dr. Ziegler obtained his medical doctorate degree from the University of Medicine and Health Sciences, St. Kitts. He is interested in outpatient primary care practice including sports medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics, procedures and chronic care management. His pursuits as chief include organizing continued medical education opportunities for fellow residents, medical students and clinic staff. He is also involved in ongoing research and quality improvement projects directed toward patient flow and practice management at the UI Health L.P. Johnson Family Health Center.

The Family Medicine Residency Program has seven first-, second- and third-year resident physicians for a total of 21 in the Rockford-based program who gain clinical experience in family medicine under the supervision of attending physicians.
