Community Faculty Appointments & Promotion
Community Faculty Heading link
Since 1971, UICOMR has relied on hundreds of area physicians to carry out our community-based medical training. There are no better instructors or educators for our students than our clinically active community-based faculty. A variety of opportunities exists for local providers interested in teaching the next generation.
Faculty ranks are determined by the highest degree attained, board certification, and prior teaching service. Ranks can include:
- Clinical associate
- Instructor
- Assistant professor
- Associate professor
- Professor
These appointments provide the following benefits:
- Access to university library resources, such as online and in-library subscription databases, journal articles, and books
- Free online classes through LinkedIn Learning
- Access to the Glenn Netto Health and Wellness Center on campus
- Ability to earn Continuing Medical Education credits for your teaching
- Opportunities to pursue research grants and projects.
- Free membership in the Illinois State Medical Society
The Office of Faculty Affairs is pleased to offer Promotion and Tenure (P&T) Mentoring Workshops this Spring. These annual events are open to faculty from all parts of campus seeking promotion. They are also open to unit executive officers/department heads, associate deans, mentors, individuals serving as preparers (of dossiers), and others involved in the P&T process.
