Non-essential operations closed Thursday, Dec. 22

Due to a winter storm warning, the UIC Health Sciences Campus- Rockford will close non-essential operations beginning at 7 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 22. Employees working in essential areas such as patient care and those who support campus infrastructure, including but not limited to facilities management, custodial and grounds, are expected to report to work during inclement weather unless directed otherwise by their supervisor.

Mile Square Health Center locations, Correctional Health Care Services and MERIT will continue normal operations.

Students on clinical rotations with ongoing patient care activities are expected to attend their activities if possible. Students who are unable to report to their hospital or clinical site must notify the clinical team as soon as they may safely do so. There will be no penalty for students who are unable to report to their clinical placements/rotations due to severe weather considerations.

Access to buildings  will be available with swipe card access. Staff entering the building on Thursday or the rest of winter break that runs through Monday, Jan. 2, should use the Main Entrance and check in at the front desk.

For non-essential units, supervisors are encouraged to allow employees to work remotely depending on operational needs. If unable to work, employees are required to utilize benefit time.

Updates will be provided to the campus as needed via UIC ALERT e-mail, SMS text messaging to subscribed mobile phones.

Contact the Office of Physical Plant to report any snow or ice-related problems on campus at cberndt@uic.edu.
