Research: Previously carried out research on the host protein HnRNP A1 and its role in the alternative splicing mechanism of the HIV virus (this mechanism allows the HIV virus to effectively express its genome). Also carried out research on the cost structure of healthcare among underserved rural communities with an emphasis on measuring the direct cost of healthcare on patients in developing countries during an episode of illness.

Research Interests: My overall research interests include infectious diseases, healthcare access/equity, and disparities in rural & community health.

Outside Interests: Travelling (Fluent in Swahili & Conversational in French), collaborating with diverse teams, engaging in sports, and swimming.
