About

Hugh Clements-Jewery has been a faculty member at UICOM Rockford since November 2016. He obtained a BA (Hons) in Physiological Sciences from the University of Oxford and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from King’s College London. Postdoctoral research experience was obtained in the labs of Dr. Michael Curtis and Professor Metin Avkiran at King’s College London. He moved to the United States to work in the laboratory of Dr. Don Bers at Loyola University Medical Center in 2005. Before moving to UICOM Rockford, he was a faculty member at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine for 9 years. He became a certified trainer-consultant in TBL in 2016. Aside from teaching medical physiology to phase 1 students, he is the current cross-campus leader for the Circulation & Respiration course in the Phase 1 curriculum, as well as being the Director of Phase 1 curriculum at the Rockford campus. He chairs the Rockford Curriculum Management Committee and helps deliver TBL faculty development. In his spare time he coaches soccer in the local community.
