About

Dr. Kelly has administrative oversight over educational programs offered to medical school graduates, including the Rockford Family Medicine Residency Program and the Dixon Rural Training Track. She also oversees current fellowship programs, which include the Hospice and Palliative Care Fellowship Program and Headache Medicine Fellowship as well as leads the development of any future residency tracks or programs as well as new fellowship programs.

In the role of assistant dean for faculty development, Dr. Kelly provides guidance to the Office of Faculty Affairs and works to develop faculty orientation, communications, training and resources to support all faculty, including the many community faculty who teach UICOMR students throughout the region and the state. The Rockford Office of Faculty Affairs works with the Chicago and Peoria offices to share information and resources across the College of Medicine as well as provide Rockford-specific resources.

Dr. Kelly was SwedishAmerican Health System’s chief clinical integration officer until her retirement in 2016. Before that, she also served as chief medical officer and chief quality officer for SwedishAmerican, among other roles, including a practicing internal medicine physician at Woodside Clinic and medical director of SwedishAmerican’s Benchmark Health Insurance Co.

Dr. Kelly earned her medical degree and completed an internship in internal medicine at Albany Medical College and then completed her residency at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle. She is board-certified in internal medicine and integrative holistic medicine and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians. She also earned the Professional, Academy for Healthcare Management designation.

She’s active in the community, having served on the SwedishAmerican Health System Board, Transform Rockford’s Healthy Living Spoke Team, Rockford Health Council Board, Rock River YMCA Board of Directors and other community initiatives. She received the Spirit of Caring Award from Crusader Community Health in 2015.
