Patients:

The UI Health L.P. Johnson Family Health Center at 1221 E. State St. will be closed for patient visits on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, and will reopen on Thursday, January 31, at 12 p.m. (not at 10:00 a.m. as previously indicated). Clinic staff are reaching out to patients to reschedule appointments. As always, in emergency situations, patients should use hospital emergency departments or call 911.

UIC Student Health and Wellness will be closed Wednesday, January 30. They will resume hours at noon on Thursday, January 31.

Students:
Doctor of Medicine Program:

All M1 and M2 classes on Wednesday, January 30, through Thursday, January 31, including afternoon classes, have been cancelled and will be rescheduled.

Students in clinical rotations (in areas affected by the cold) are excused from attendance and are not expected to attend on Wednesday, January 30, through Thursday, January 31.  Clerkship directors have been notified.

Master of Science in Medical Biotechnology: Classes are cancelled through Thursday, January 31, 2019, including afternoon classes.

Employees:

The UIC Health Sciences Campus-Rockford at 1601 Parkview Ave. will be closed to the public through noon on Thursday, January 31. Employees working in non-essential operations may report to work at noon if they are able and feel safe in doing so.

Physical plant, biological resource staff and employees providing inpatient clinical services and at the Winnebago County Justice Center are considered essential employees and are expected to report to work. UI Health L.P. Johnson Family Health Center staff are expected to report to work at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 31, per the direction of your supervisor. If you have questions, please contact your supervisor.

Employees who do not report to work must use benefit time or take an excused, unpaid absence.  Please see the table below for specific leave reporting requirements according to each employment group.

FLSA Non-Exempt Employees: Civil Service and Hourly.
For any hours absent during normally scheduled work hours, benefit time or unpaid leave must be used:

· Accrued compensatory time

· Approved absence without pay

FLSA Exempt Employees: Civil Service, Academic Professional, and Faculty
· If absent a full-day based on work schedule, benefit time must be used in a full day increment:
