UW Health Northern Illinois Region includes two hospitals, a free-standing outpatient cancer center, 30 clinics, a home health agency and a foundation. UW Health SwedishAmerican Hospital is a 333-bed, full-service, non-profit hospital serving the greater Rockford region, northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. It is a teaching hospital that hosts the University of Illinois College of Medicine’s residency program.

Founded in 1911, SwedishAmerican Hospital has earned a reputation for its commitment to quality healthcare, including clinical excellence, outcome measurements and placing the needs and concerns of our patients first. SwedishAmerican offers more than 350 active and courtesy staff physicians, encompassing approximately 40 different specialties and many specially trained allied health professionals. SwedishAmerican’s physicians represent all major surgical specialties and sub-specialties. The outpatient surgery center provides state-of-the art procedures and service to more than 6,000 patients annually.

Heart Hospital

From primary care to open heart surgery, UW Health SwedishAmerican’s range of cardiac services is truly comprehensive. Many of cardiac services are provided within the Heart Hospital, while others are offered at UW Health SwedishAmerican Hospital, through extensive networks of clinics, and by SwedishAmerican Home Health Care.

Regional Cancer Center

The Regional Cancer Center offers state-of-the-art treatment and support services to cancer patients throughout northern Illinois. Our award-winning cancer program includes an outpatient cancer center, which offers advanced treatments under one roof and care that is coordinated by the region’s top specialists, including experts from UW Health and its nationally recognized University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center.

Women and Children’s Hospital

The Women and Children’s Hospital includes a birthing center, Level III NICU and clinic space where UW Health pediatric specialists care for children with concerns regarding the heart, lungs, brain, ear, nose and throat and more.
