Match Day

The map shows UICOMR Match Day results by state with 22 students matching into residencies in Illinois, and five or less matching in each of the following states: Oregon, California, Texas, Hawaii, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, Indiana, Michigan Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts, Virginia, and North Carolina.

Each year, graduating medical students around the country and at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford discover where they will spend the next three to seven years of residency training on Match Day. During an emotionally charged, suspense-filled Match Day Ceremony, students are handed an envelope revealing the residency program they matched with through the National Resident Matching Program or “The Match.” The ceremony takes place at the same time on the same day for most graduating U.S. medical students.

The NRMP is a private, not-for-profit corporation established in 1952 to provide uniform date of appointment to positions in graduate medical education throughout the United States. Each year approximately 16,000 U.S. medical school seniors compete for residency positions in the United States.

The results will be announced on March 20, 2026
